2012 National Literacy and Numeracy Week Activities
The team at Corrimal High School have been working tirelessly to host an amazing line up for this year's Literacy and Numeracy Week. This week will be very special this year with some amazing activities for Corrimal High School students as well as for student of Year 6 in our Community of Schools.
Students in years 9, 10 and 11 will participate in hands-on workshops that demonstrate the relevance of literacy and numeracy to the workplace and daily lives, this year students can participate in two of the 14 workshops on offer. These include Getting into the Trades, Naval Meteorology, Drumming, Web Design, Resistance Training, Forensics, Sports Journalism, reading to small children, Theatre Sports, Song Writing, Portrait Photography, Sketching the News, Electronics and Surveying.
The Great Debate will take place in the afternoon with teams that comprise staff, students and visiting students from the University of Wollongong.
The day will conclude with performances from our very talented musicians and dancers.
Year 6 students from our Community of Schools will join all year 7 and 8 students in a day of fun activities. The special guest author is Richard Harland who writes adventure fantasy. You can find out more from his website. http://www.richardharland.net/index.htm
Students will enjoy a competitive literacy and numeracy trivia competition and also choose a workshop from one of 4 that are on offer. These are Theatre Sports, Creative Writing, Numeracy Fun and Sketching the News.
