Representing CHS on the floor.
On Tuesday 16 August I was fortunate enough to take four of our fabulous students to the annual South Coast Public Speaking competition held at Holy Spirit College. Our students were Shahne Hocking of Year 11, Vicky Phu and Alliyah Sybell of Year 8 and Maddison Lloyd of Year 7.
Congratulations to Shahne who showed exceptional leadership skills as our senior student on the night and prepared a careful and thoughtful speech on some of the biggest problems facing the world today including terrorism, discrimination and violence. Vicky Phu presented an interesting speech on the future of zoos and Maddison Lloyd crafted a humorous, original speech on the benefit of sisters. Last but certainly not least, Alliyah Sybell presented a passionate speech on women's rights and was announced SECOND place in a very high standard competition. It was very exciting recognition for such a hard-working and delightful student.
Much credit must go to these students who happily gave up their time to represent our school at such a worthy event. They were fabulous ambassadors and I would happily take them out to represent our school at any function. Well done.
I would encourage anyone who is interested in public speaking to register their interest with me as many opportunities come up and I am always on the lookout for new talent.
Thanks must go to Holy Spirit for organising this worthwhile event every year.
