On the 31st of March, the Corrimal HS robotics team (Ryan Foster and Jordan Foster, Jack and Kias Chalmers-Mulder, Daniel St George, Oscar McFarlane, Patrick Vallance and Kye Chamberlain) went to the University of Wollongong to compete in a robot sumo competition.
Robot sumo is a challenge in which one robot tries to knock its opponent from within the playing circle. This is accomplished by the use of computer programming. It took several weeks of trial and error for the above mentioned students to create and programme the robots.
The competition was held by Project Bucephalus and The Kookagumjoeys who came first and second in Nationals to endeavour to raise funds to finance their trip to the international robotic championships, which are to be held in the United States and Germany. Everyone enjoyed the experience unfortunately, our robots were not the best on the day but the Corrimal High School DeceptaGongs will rise again!
