Mark Matthews has had an interesting and diverse career as a engineer, teacher, musician and radio announcer.  Mark attended Corrimal High School in the 1970s and became vice-captain of the school in 1979.

 

Mark gained his Diploma in Music with the Yamaha Music Foundation in 1988.  He is a qualified honours graduate in Civil Engineering (from UOW) and currently teaches this at Wollongong TAFE. He also tutors Piano privately.  Mark is a presenter on 97.3 ABC Illawarra, where he can be heard regularly on Saturday breakfasts.

 

In July 2010, Mark was awarded the ‘Paul Harris Fellow', through Wollongong Rotary Club for his service to community.  He received a Wollongong Central Top Gong award for Community Service to Wollongong the same year.

 

Mark has produced 7 solo piano cd's in seven years. These original compositions are used widely by pianists all over the country and one piece is included the current AMEB Grade 4 piano score.He regularly fundraises for ‘REDKITE – supporting children and young people through cancer' and proceeds from his cd sales are directed to this charity.
